Updated: 26th October: It has just been announced that Gray O'Brien will play Captain Von Trapp in the new Sound of Music Tour. This is his his musical theatre debut, and he is probably best known as ruthless businessman Tony Gordon in Coronation Street.
The Voice finalist Lucy O'Byrne is taking over from Danielle Hope as Maria von Trapp in the UK touring production of The Sound of Music.
O'Byrne rose to fame in Will.i.am's team after becoming the first classical singer to reach BBC One's The Voice final. She will play her first performance on 2nd December at the Broadway Theatre in Peterborough.
O'Byrne
previously appeared in Thérèse Raquin at the Park Theatre and recently
received acclaim for her performance at the BBC Proms.
