New Cowardly Lion in Oz

As already revealed there are a number of cast changes taking place at The Wizard of Oz in February with Russell Grant taking over from Michael Crawford as the Wizard and Sophie Evans taking over Dorothy full time from Danielle Hope.

David Ganly who plays the Cowardly Lion is also leaving and his role will be taken by Martin Callaghan (pictured) who will join Paul Keating (Scarecrow), Edward Baker-Duly (Tin Man), Emily Tierney (Glinda) and Marianne Benedict (The Wicked Witch of the West).

Martin Callaghan's extensive theatre credits include Chess, My Fair Lady, Aspects of Love, (UK Tours); Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (UK Tour); Uncle Pumblechook in Great Expectations (UK Tour); Turkey in HONK! (National Theatre Tour); Beadle Bamford in Sweeney Todd (Derby Playhouse); Nicely-Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls (Sheffield Crucible); Uncle Henry/The Emerald City Guard in The Wizard of Oz (Birmingham Rep and The West Yorkshire Playhouse); The Typesetter in Personals (Apollo Theatre London); Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar (UK Tour and Lyceum Theatre London); Amos Hart in Chicago (UK and International Tours); Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof (UK Tour)  and Smee in Peter Pan (West Yorkshire Playhouse).
