According to the Stephen Sondheim Society the long awaited production of Merrily We Roll Along, to be directed by Maria Friedman, is now slated to open at The Menier Chocolate Factory in November 2012.

Merrily We Roll Along has a book by George Furth and lyrics and music by Stephen Sondheim. It is based on the 1934 play of the same name by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart.

The story revolves around Franklin Shepard who was once a talented composer of Broadway musicals, but has now abandoned his friends and his song writing career to become a Hollywood producer. The musical begins at the height of his Hollywood fame and moves backwards in time charting the most important moments in his life.

"Not a Day Goes By," "Good Thing Going," "Old Friends," and "Our Time" are especially popular with singers who perform on the cabaret circuit.
