Lee Mack and Frank Skinner will lead a celebrity race around the world in 80 days as part of a charity-led challenge to retrace the journey taken by Phileas Fogg in Jules Verne's book. They have to complete the journey in time for Children in Need on 20th November.
They will be the first of a group of stars including John Barrowman and Myleene Klass who will attempt the worldwide relay. Each celebrity team will be raising money for Children in Need through sponsorship and by picking up articles on their travels to auction off when they get home.
Lee Mack and Frank Skinner travel the first leg from the Reform Club in London to the Turkey/Iraq border in just eight days. Then pairs of celebrities will each undertake a leg of the trip, travelling by any means possible (except plane) to reach their destination in the allotted time. (Frank and Lee travelled by train, turbo-boat, horse and bullet-proof car provided by Serbian royalty.
They will then meet the next pair and hand over the “baton” which is a carpet bag containing 21st century requirements for the journey: including a GPS phone and satellite tracker.
