The current Tony Award winning revival of the 1968 Broadway musical Hair is to come to London’s West End complete with members of the American cast. The show is scheduled to preview at the Gielgud Theatre on April 1st next year prior to an official opening on April 14th.
The London transfer is being produced by Cameron Mackintosh and Broadway Across America. A London staging of the original Broadway production played the West End's Shaftesbury Theatre in late 1968, with a cast that included Paul Nicholas, Richard O'Brien, Elaine Paige, Marsha Hunt, Oliver Tobias and Tim Curry.
Avenue Q is currently playing at the Gielgud and booking through March 20th, 2010, after moving from the Noel Coward Theatre. According to a spokesperson from Cameron Mackintosh it is planned to move it again.
Tickets for Hair will go on sale from 20th November.
