Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton to appear in Sweeney Todd

Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton are rumoured to be playing the Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Mrs Lovett in a new production of Stephen Sondheim's musical Sweeney Todd which opens at the Chichester Festival Theatre before transferring into the West End in the Spring of 2011
. 
Michael Ball starred in the London premiere of Sondheim's musical Passion with Maria Friedman (the Donmar are doing it next year) and he has recorded Not While I'm Around from Sweeney Todd, although the number is  actually sung by Mrs Lovett.

These revivals are all part of the celebrations planned to coincide with Stephen Sondheim’s 80th birthday on 22nd March next year.
