Laurence Olivier Awards to be broadcast live this year

For the first time the Laurence Olivier Awards ceremony will be broadcast live from Park Lane’s Grosvenor House Hotel starting at 18:30 on Sunday 21st March 2010.

The ceremony will be presented by actor Anthony Head, who is currently appearing in Six Degrees Of Separation at the Old Vic. Nominated stars including Jude Law, Keira Knightley, Rachel Weisz, Juliet Stevenson, Samuel West and Ken Stott have confirmed their attendance at the event,

Other nominees are Gillian Anderson, James Earl Jones, Mark Rylance, Imelda Staunton, Mackenzie Crook, Melanie Chisholm (for her performance in Blood Brothers), Patina Miller, Tony Sheldon, Maureen Lipman and Rowan Atkinson.

This year’s ceremony will announce the winner of the new Audience Award, as voted for by the readers of Official London Theatre. Shows including Wicked, War Horse, Phantom Of The Opera, We Will Rock You and Billy Elliott are battling it out to be crowned the West End’s favourite long-running show.

Voting remains open until 17th March with over 36,000 votes cast so far.
