The new Alan Menken-Glenn Slater musical Leap of Faith will have its world premiere in Los Angeles from September 5th-October 17th 2010.
Leap of Faith has a libretto written by Janus Cercone with Glenn Slater. Menken (Beauty and the Beast) is the eight-time Academy Award-winning composer; Tony nominee Glenn Slater (pictured) is a lyricist known for Broadway's The Little Mermaid and the Menken musical Sister Act, plus the new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Love Never Dies (for which he co-wrote the book).
The new musical is based on the motion picture "Leap of Faith," produced by Paramount Pictures Corporation.
Leap of Faith is the story of super-cynic Jonas Nightingale, a rock star in evangelist's clothing, who cons his way across the drought stricken farm belt. A consummate manipulator, Jonas meets his match in a beautiful young widow and her son who compel him to acknowledge forces beyond his control - the power of love, human connection and hope. Through them he gets one last chance to believe in something.
