No role swapping in La Cage Aux Folles

Kelsey Grammer has just received a Tony nomination for his performance as Georges in the Menier Chocolate Factory production of La Cage aux Folles on Broadway.

Before the production opened Grammer said: "So the way we're doing this is, when we open I'm doing the role of Georges. In six months, I switch over to playing Albin (the role played by fellow Tony nominee Douglas Hodge). It really means I must memorize the whole show."

But since the nomination plans seem to have changed and it could be that he will continue in his current role until the end of his contract,  and then maybe six months after that he might rejoin the production for three months playing Albin. He now feels that he could not perform George while rehearsing Albin.
