Bette Midler turned down Sister Act

The Divine Miss M has received two Oscar nominations won four Grammy awards, four Golden Globes, three Emmy awards and a special Tony award. Her songs Wind Beneath My Wings, From A Distance and The Rose have become classics.

She is now starring in Cats & Dogs: The Revenge Of Kitty Galore providing the voice of the villainous Kitty. The film was released on July 30th 2010

But being at the top wasn't all it was cracked up to be with Miss Midler saying "I achieved my plan but I got tired. I got bored. I worked really, really hard. I got very tired."

She is also happy to reveal the films she didn't do which included Sister Act the movie which was written for her. During a recent interview she revealed Marc Shaiman is a friend of hers who was in charge of the music and he said: “You've got to do it!" She replied:  “My fans don't want to see me in a wimple. But I don't know where I got that from because why would I say such a thing? So Whoopi Goldberg did it and made a fortune.”

And Whoopi Goldberg is doing it again in the stage version of Sister Act the Musical at the London Palladium, but this time she is playing the Mother Superior from 10th-31st August (excluding 16th and 23rd).
