Darius Campbell History of Big Bands tour
Darius Campbell who shot to fame after competing in Pop Idol is going on a national tour with his own swing show The History of Big Bands playing 11 UK dates this autumn starting in St Albans on 11th September 2010 before one-night gigs in Lincoln, Buxton, Brighton, Wimbledon, Inverness, Darlington, Woking, Bromley and Eastbourne where it finishes on 4th November.
The History of Big Bands tour features a 16-piece band playing classics by some the world's great band leaders including Glenn Miller and Duke Ellington.
Campbell was previously called Darius Danesh but changed is surname to reflect his Scottish roots. The pop singer-songwriter has appeared in a number of West End musicals: Chicago, Guys and Dolls and Trevor Nunn’s ill-fated Gone With the Wind (pictured here at Rhett Butler).
He recently appeared on ITV in another talent show Popstar to Operastar when he competed and beat seven other popstars to win the title and went on to play Escamillo in Carmen at The O2 Arena.
