It will be directed by Donmar Associate Director Jamie Lloyd and run from 21st February to 2nd April 2010 (previews from 11th February). Lloyd’s latest work is Sondheim’s Passion which opens on 10th September.
The musical comedy revolves around a contest where a place in the national finals at stake which causes tensions and emotions to overspill. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee transferred to Broadway in 2005 where it ran for three years and won the Tony for Best Book of a Musical.
