Frances Ruffelle is a Tony Award winner for her performance in Les Miserables and also mother of pop singer Eliza Doolittle.
She has just performed a one night show at London’s Garrick Theatre of her enormously successful Beneath the Dress which received rave reviews at the Edinburgh Festival.
From October 14th-16th she is starring in Songs From A Hotel Bedroom at Watford Palace Theatre and also at the Linbury Studio at the Royal Opera House from 4th-6th November.
This new piece of musical theatre takes place in the stylish and sophisticated post-war New York in 1949.Cabaret singer Angélique (Frances Ruffelle) relives the memories of her brief but passionate love affair with songwriter Dan (Nigel Richards). She recalls her arrival from Paris a year before, she reflects on how her life has changed. The story is told through the bittersweet love songs of Kurt Weill's American repertoire including September Song, Speak Low, I'm A Stranger Here Myself and tango dancing.
The production features dancers Tara Pilbrow and Amir Giles and a 7-piece live band. It was conceived by choreographer Kate Flatt (Les Miserables; Doctor Faustus and Three Sisters).
