Sondheim on Sondheim now heading for West End next Spring

Rhydian Roberts recently revealed that he was appearing in Sondheim on Sondheim this year, but his news seems a bit premature as the producer Sonia Friedman has just announced that she has plans to bring it over from Broadway next Spring.

Part bio-play and part song revue Sondheim on Sondheim includes more than twenty of the maestro’s tunes and exclusive interview footage giving a real insight into his life and work.

There is no London venue confirmed as yet, but expect a strong cast as when the show ran at Studio 54 in the Spring it featured Broadway stars Barbara Cook, Tom Wopat, Vanessa Williams, Leslie Kritzer and Norm Lewis (who is currently playing Javert in Les Miserables at the Queen’s). 

Friedman hopes that by presenting the show for a limited run she will be able to put together a cast of starry UK musical theatre performers.
