Michael Ball and Friends Shooting Stars Charity Gala raises £50,000

The Michael Ball and Friends Charity Gala in aid of the Shooting Star Children’s Hospice which was held last Sunday at the Prince of Wales Theatre raised over £50,000 for the charity.

Michael Ball’s “friends” included Tony Christie (Dreamboats & Petticoats), Jason Donovan and Tony Hadley.

Philip Glenister (Life on Mars) welcomed the audience and Jason Donovan made a surprise appearance to perform his hit Too Many Broken Hearts which knocked Michael’s Love Changes Everything from Aspects of Love off the number one spot in 1989.

Michael performed with Hairspray co-stars Brian Conley, Michael Starke and Les Dennis (who are all touring the UK with the show) and was then joined by Shooting Star patron Tony Hadley  for a duet of Spandau Ballet’s hit Gold.

Tony Christie joined Michael to sing Avenues and Alleyways and Amarillo.

Michael was then joined on stage by all of the performers for a grand finale.
