Sister Act closes at the London Palladium on 30th October with Whoopi Goldberg returning to play Mother Superior for five performances only on the evening of Friday 22nd October, two shows on Saturday 23rd October and two shows on Monday 25th October.
Nothing more has been said about the promised UK tour and it has just been announced that Sister Act will be opening at the Broadway Theatre next year with a date of 20th April 2011 being mentioned but casting is still not known.
The Broadway production will reunite the original London creative team of choreographer Anthony Van Laast, scenic designer Klara Zieglerova, costume designer Lez Brotherston, lighting designer Natasha Katz and sound designer Mick Potter.
The Broadway version will however get a new director with Broadway veteran Jerry Zaks taking the helm. He is set to make substantial changes to the show and brought in Douglas Carter van Beane (Xanadu) to write a new book and add more comedy to the musical.
A German production of Sister Act is planned for December with productions also planned in Australia, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Italy, France and Spain in the coming months.
