Jason Donovan to play Captain von Trapp in the Sound of Music

West End star Jason Donovan is to play Captain Von Trapp in the tour of the Sound of Music when it visits Hull New Theatre on 29th  January  2011 and he is due to perform  in the role until  25th June when it ends its run at the Leeds Grand Theatre.

Michael Praed is currently playing Von Trapp and Connie Fisher is playing Maria -  both due to leave the show when it ends its run at Oxford New Theatre on 2nd January 2011. 

Jason’s recent West End theatre credits include playing the role of Tick/Mitzi in Priscilla Queen of the Desert and he is currently touring in The War or the Worlds ( which ends on 18th December) playing the Artilleryman.

Other roles include Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Caractacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,   Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Show and Sweeney Todd in Sondheim’s musical of the same name

His television credits include Neighbours and Echo Beach.
