Cast for Sondheim's Company at Southwark Playhouse in February

Southwark Playhouse is staging a revival of Sondheim’s 1970 musical Company in February. It is their first musical production since it was founded in 1993 and will run from 9th February to 12th March 2011 (previews from 2nd February).

The cast are Rupert Young (Merlin, Shameless, Afterlife and Never So Good) as Bobby, Siobhan McCarthy (Donna in Mamma Mia!) as Joanne, Cassidy Janson (Avenue Q) plays Amy with  Mark Curry, Greg Castiglioni, Matthew White, Leigh McDonald, Steve Serlin, Julia Nagle, Adam Venus, Laura Main, Poppy Roe, Michelle Bishop and Katie Brayben.

.Company is all about Bobby who is a 35-year-old bachelor living in New York. When five married couples throw a surprise party for him in his apartment it opens up discussions in song examining the pros and cons of marriage – but will he ever discover happiness? The score includes “Marry Me a Little”, “Being Alive”, “Ladies Who Lunch”, “Side by Side” and “You Could Drive a Person Crazy”.

The forthcoming Southwark Playhouse production will be directed by Joe Fredericks (associate director on Once Upon a Time at the Adelphi) with musical direction and arrangement by Oliver Jackson and choreography by Sam Spencer-Lane.

The Southwark Playhouse’s location in the vaults beneath London Bridge Station is the perfect space to create an intimate production with a New York warehouse feel.

Company will also receive a major revival in Christmas 2012 at Sheffield Theatres when Daniel Evans stars in Jonathan Munby’s production.
