Michael Ball launches New Year campaign for Help for Heroes Charity

Hairspray the Musical is currently playing at the Edinburgh Playhouse with Michael Ball reprising his role as Edna Turnblad.

Earlier this week he took time out to launch a New Year campaign aimed at raising money for the Help for Heroes charity which supports injured armed forces personnel.

He invited revellers at Edinburgh's Hogmanay street party on New Year’s Eve to text their New Year resolutions to be displayed on giant screens along Princes Street on New Year's Day. 25p from each text will go towards the charity.

Michael said: "My resolution for 2011 is to build more bridges and what better way to put that into practice than to encourage you all to text your messages and resolutions to raise money for this fantastic charity."

Michael is due to begin a new concert tour aptly named "Heroes" in the New Year starting at Dublin's Grand Canal Theatre on May 24th touring the UK and  closing in Brighton on June 26th.
