The Stage industry newspaper has today published its 15th edition of The Stage 100 annual guide to the most influential people in UK theatre. The list is topped for the second year running by the joint chief executives of Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG), husband and wife team Howard Panter and Rosemary Squire.
For the first time in the list's 15 year history Andrew Lloyd Webber nor Cameron Mackintosh did not appear in the top two. Lloyd-Webber has been relegated to sixth position (down three from last year)-while Mackintosh also slips three places to fifth.
There are only two actors in the top 20: Mark Rylance who last appeared in Jerusalem in the West End and Legally Blonde’s Sheridan Smith slips in at number 20. She leaves the production this Saturday and will sorely missed. It’s been a good couple of years for Sheridan and will be interesting to see what she does next.
