Alfie Boe goes Gold!

Alfie Boe’s excellent new album Bring Him Home was at number 9 in the album chart at the end of last week, and he has now tweeted that it has just gone gold.

It certainly deserves it, with the track Come What May  (from Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge) which  he performs with Kerry Ellis being quite outstanding.

He even posted a photo of the gold disc as evidence!

My favourite track too!Ihope that his next CD will have rather more adventurous songs like this one.

Not sure where to post this but do you have any news on the rumour that the whole orchestra of Les Mis has been made redundant?

There is something going on after the Les Miserables cast change on 18th June as tickets after that Saturday are not on sale again until Thursday 23rd June.

Also Alfie Boe is usually very on the ball with his dates but has not been able to confirm his start date with the show specifying it will be “at the end of June some time”.

The rumour (and I stress the word rumour) that I have heard was that the Queen's was dark because Row BB was being removed and they were expanding the pit for more orchestra members to perform the new orchestrations that were being introduced. Whether this involves laying off some of the current members to make way for some new ones I don’t know.

I have several friends involved with this show and they have heard the same rumour as you. Will do a post/Tweet as soon as I hear anything definite.

I was told that they were all going as "he" wanted a fresh approach and it all sounded rather unpleasant. This is third-hand but it had the horrible ring of truth...
