Douglas Hodge left the UK to transfer to Broadway playing Albin in the Menier Chocolate Factory's production of La Cage aux Folles for which he won a 2010 Tony Award.
He is still in the States performing his cabaret show at the Cafe Carlyle in Manhattan where he has just revealed he is currently in talks to star in a possible revival of the award winning musical Barnum.
The original Broadway production of Barnum premiered in 1980 and ran for 854 performances. It was nominated for a variety of Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Original Score and earned a Best Actor award for Jim Dale who starred as P T Barnum. In the original West End production, Michael Crawford played the role for four years winning an Olivier Award for the part.
A couple of years ago reports suggested that Cameron Mackintosh is involved in producing a West End revival of the show. Watch this space ….
