One of her first recordings was I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper with Hot Gossip in 1978 and ironically it now it looks as if Sarah Brightman may become the next space tourist to fly to the International Space Station after successfully completing medical tests in Russia last month.
While not officially confirmed Alexei Krasnov, head of manned space missions at the Russian space agency Roscosmos, said yesterday “It can happen.”
This would mean that Brightman would be the second woman and the eighth fare-paying passenger to make the trip to the International Space Station. She is said to be the world's richest female classical performer which is just as well as the going rate for the trip is around $30 million which is used to support the Russian space programme.
No date has been set for her mission but it is likely that she would launch in 2015 on a Soyuz rocket. The name of the next space tourist is likely to be announced next month so watch this space.
