Sheridan Smith to star in new film musical

Sheridan Smith has just finished filming the Channel 4 TV drama series Dates and is now due to fly off to Turkey to star in a comedy film Belly Dancing for Beginners. Plus she is due to appear in a new episode of Jonathan Creek which will be screened over Easter.

She has recently auditioned for a coveted role in a musical that is still under wraps that Sheridan tweeted she "really wanted".  But her mum Marilyn has told a local Epworth newspaper: “The new film has yet to be formally announced but Sheridan’s really delighted with it and so is her agent. All I can say is that it’s a musical, so Sheridan will be singing. She’s excited.”

She also added  "Sheridan is delighted, honoured and petrified” to be hosting the Olivier Awards at the Royal Opera House in London on April 28th. "It’s a prestigious event but quite nerve wracking for her"
