The fabulous Beverley Knight is currently playing the lead role of Rachel Marron (played by Whitney Houston in the film) in The Bodyguard until 31st May, after which she will playing the lead role of Felicia Farrell in Memphis
The musical tells the fictional story of Huey Calhoun who was one of the first white disc jockeys who dared to play rhythm and blues music for his white teenage listeners in the 1950s. Some of the action also takes place in Delray's, an underground black Rock and Roll bar. It is all about segregation, winning four 2010 Tony awards including best musical and running for 1,165 performances on Broadway before touring the US.
Public booking opens for the show on 13 March.
