Casting is taking place over the next two months (with over 1,600 applications already received from people keen to audition) with rehearsals
scheduled to begin in July, and the first preview scheduled for August
21st.Jerry Mitchell
is reportedly keen to find all-British cast saying
"It's got to be British actors, because one of the things we always took
a beating on in New York was the accents." Adding that thanks to the various shows he’s worked on here - from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels to Legally Blonde - he already had some idea of how
good British actors, dancers and singers are.‘But
there are always new people you don’t know about,’ said Mitchell, who
is also working on several other shows he wants to launch in London
including a new production of Easter Parade.
Award winning writers Fierstein and Lauper are also checking Kinky Boots' book and lyrics to make sure the dialogue is UK-friendly.
Casting will be announced at a later date, with tickets going on sale to the general public on 2nd March.
