Adapted from the novel by Alice Walker, The Color Purple
features a book by Marsha Norman with music and lyrics by Brenda
Russell, Allee Willis, and Stephen Bray. It tells the story of a woman
named Celie as she navigates her life in rural Georgia in the early
1900s. This production is directed by Tony winner John Doyle. Ii originated at London's Menier Chocolate
Factory in 2013 and is set to begin performances on November 10th, opening on Decemberth 10 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.
