Carley Bawden, Joanna Riding, Marc Antolin and Gareth Snook to star in Romantics Anonymous Musical

Casting has been announced for Emma Rice's musical Romantics Anonymous which runs at Shakespeare's Globe from 27th  October to 6th January with previews from 20th  October.

The show will star Marc Antolin as Ludo, Carly Bawden as Angelique, Dominic Marsh as Jean-Rene, Joanna Riding as Mother and Magda, Philip Cox as Father,  Gareth Snook as Mercier, Natasha Jayetileke as Suzanne/Mimi and Dominic Marsh as Jean-René with Lauren Samuels and Joe Evans as  Ensemble / On-stage Swing

Angélique makes beautiful chocolates, carefully infused with all the emotion that seems to overwhelm her in daily life. Jean-René runs a chocolate factory that is running out of steam, rather like his own existence. Both seek help from the usual sources: Jean-René favours self-help tapes and Angélique joins a support group, Les Émotifs Anonymes. Romantics Anonymous is an unusual and tender love story in which the obstacles to happiness are not the usual external barriers, but those sneaky little ones we know all too intimately: the ones within.
It  has a book by Rice, with lyrics by Christopher Dimond and music from Michael KoomanIt and will be the final production directed by Rice in her role as artistic director of Shakespeare's Globe when she steps down from running the theatre next year as Michelle Terry takes over as artistic director from April 2018.

The piece is being presented by special arrangement with Radio Mouse Entertainment, a New York based theatre and media production company that has been developing the musical since 2014.
