The new West end star Charlie Stemp has just finished playing Arthur Kipps in Half a Sixpence to great critical acclaim and is due to play the title role in the pantomime Dick Whittington at the Palladium this Christmas, and now according to Producer Scott Rudin he will make his Broadway debut as Barnaby Tucker in the most successful Broadway production of the year: Hello, Dolly!
He will begin performances opposite the previously announced Bernadette Peters (who is taking over from Bette Midler) and Victor Garber on January 20th prior to a February 22nd opening night. Taylor Trensch will play his final performance as Barnaby Tucker on January 14th.
