The piece originally premiered in New York in 2016 and went on to be nominated for two Drama Desk Awards and a Drama League Award. Hamilton's creator Lin-Manuel Miranda said that he "laughed his brains out" when he first saw the parody show.

Described by the New York Times as “smart, silly and convulsively funny”, Spamilton makes its UK debut at the Menier Chocolate Factory, where unlike the Victoria Palace, there are tickets available - at a fraction of the price.
