Tim Howar leaves first preview of Chess Musical in the interval

The first preview of Chess the Musical at London Coliseum had some unexpected high drama when Tim Howar (who plays the American Frederick Trumper) had a call from his heavily pregnant wife Jodie Oliver-Howar to tell him she had just gone into labour with their first child.

The decision was taken that Tim should leave for the hospital immediately with his understudy Cellen Chugg Jones going on for the second act with very little rehearsal and being required to sing the number  Pity the Child. Luckily it all ended well with congratulations to Tim and Jodie who welcomed a baby boy who they have named Hamish Rex and to Cellen for doing an amazing job.
