Latest news on Tom Hooper's big screen adaptation of Cats the musical is confirmation from Working Title Films that the project is scheduled to begin production in the UK in November with the Royal Ballet's resident choreographer, Wayne McGregor joining the team and casting calls underway for ensemble members before rehearsals begin later in the summer.
Working Title is partnering with Universal Pictures on the film. They also worked with Hooper on another high-profile movie musical: 2012's Les Misérables.
The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, based on T S Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, last played Broadway in a 2016 revival at the Neil Simon Theatre. The original Broadway production ran at the Winter Garden for nearly 18 years.
Lloyd Webber is currently working on new material for the film version, including a new song for Victoria.
