Filming is now well under way for the Elton John biopic Rocket Man is and courtesy of the Mail's Baz this is the first glimpse of star Taron Egerton in full Elton mode on the set of the film.
Directed by Dexter Fletcher, Rocket Man charts Elton's days at the Royal Academy of Music through his heyday in the rock 'n' roll scene of the 70s and '80s covering his recovery from drug and alcohol addiction in the '90s right up to to his current international superstardom. The film also has Bodyguard and Game Of Thrones
star Richard Madden playing John Reid, the singer’s former lover and
manager: Jamie Bell as Bernie Taupin, who wrote a catalogue of hits with
John with Bryce Dallas Howard and Steven Mackintosh as his parents.
Egerton who does his own singin in he role, is best known for his roles in the British television series The Smoke and the 2014 action comedy film Kingsman: The Secret Service (where he met Elton who was making a cameo appearance), He has also played Edward Brittain in the 2014 drama film Testament of Youth, appeared in the 2015 crime thriller film Legend, starred as Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards in the 2016 biographical film Eddie the Eagle, voiced Johnny in the 2016 animated musical film Sing, and reprised his role in the 2017 sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle. His upcoming films include Billionaire Boys Club and Robin Hood.
