Frozen Musical to open at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2020

According to Baz Bamigboye in today's Mail , the Broadway adaptation of Disney's Frozen is to transfer into  the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2020 when Andrew Lloyd Webber's multi-million pound  renovation  is complete.

No casting has been announced with  no word on whether the show's Broadway leads will transfer to London , or if director Michael Grandage will  recast it with British actors.

According to Baz, the team may reassemble to "tinker with the show and tighten it up for the West End." with the act two ensemble number, 'Hygge' being revised.

Based on the 2013 film, the story centres on the relationship between two sisters Elsa and Anna, who are princesses. Elsa has magical powers to freeze objects and people, which she cannot control. After inheriting the throne, Elsa flees,  causing the kingdom to become frozen in an eternal winter, and nearly kills her sister. She must sacrifice and show true love to save the day.

The show's  director is Michael Grandage, (Tony Award winner (Red) and director of three Olivier Award-winning Outstanding Musicals (Merrily We Roll Along, Grand Hotel and Guys and Dolls), with Tony Award winner Rob Ashford (Thoroughly Modern Millie) as choreographer.

Frozen won 2014 Oscars for Best Song ("Let It Go") and Best Animated Feature. It features music and lyrics by the creators of the film score Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Up Here, Winnie the Pooh, In Transit) and Robert Lopez (Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon, Up Here) with  a book by Jennifer Lee (Zootopia, Wreck-It Ralph).
