Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake to be broadcast in cinemas this May

Matthew Bourne's award-winning production of Swan Lake is be broadcast in UK cinemas from 21st May.

Bourne's  revival of Tchaikovsky's ballet is famous for replacing the female ensemble with male dancers as the swans and is currently touring the UK  with direction and choreography by Bourne, set and costumes by Lez Brotherston, lighting by Paule Constable and sound design by Ken Hampton. It continues to tour until 21 July 2019.
 
Since it was first staged at Sadler's Wells in 1995, the piece has won over 30 international awards including three Tonys and an Olivier Award.

Speaking about the screenings, Bourne said: "I'm thrilled that this brand-new production of my Swan Lake will be in cinemas across the UK from 21 May. It has become a modern classic much beloved by the British public and throughout the world. Its popularity has never been greater and several generations of audiences have been inspired and moved by its universal story of love and acceptance."
