Selladoor Productions (producers of 9 to 5 The Musical, Big Fish,
American Idiot and Avenue Q) are to bring Falsettos to London for the very
first time running at The Other Palace from 30th August - 23rd November for a
strictly limited season with press night on Thursday 5th September.
Casting so far includes Daniel Boys and Oliver Savile as Marvin and Whizzer, two of the central characters. Marvin tries to navigate life with his lover Whizzer and his ex-wife Trina (played by Laura Pitt-Pulford) and her new partner (played by Matt Cardle). Then there are the lesbians next door, one of whom is a doctor trying to deal with the as yet unnamed illness, played by Natasha J. Barnes and Gemma Knight-Jones. Albert Atack, George Kennedy, Elliot Morris and James Williams will share the role of Jason Marvin and Trina’s ten-year-old son
The double Tony Award musical, by William Finn (Music, Lyrics & Book) and James Lapine (Book), is a hilarious and poignant look at a modern family revolving around the life of a gay man Marvin, his wife, his lover, his soon to be bar mitzvahed son, their psychiatrist, and the lesbians neighbours.
Originally created under the spectre of the AIDS crisis, this ground-breaking musical about family dynamics manages to remain buoyant and satirically perceptive even as it moves towards its heartbreaking conclusion.
