The Menier Chocolate Factory has just announced that Jason Robert Brown and Marsha Norman's hit musical The Bridges of Madison County will have its UK premiere at the Menier Chocolate Factory in July.
Based on Robert James Waller's bestselling novel The Bridges of Madison County will have new staging by Trevor Nunn with design by Jon Bausor, lighting by Tim Lutkin, sound by Gregory Clarke and musical supervision and direction by Tom Murray. The production opens on 23rd July, with previews from 12th July, and runs until 14th September.

This is one of Jason Robert Brown's most ravishing and unforgettable shows winning two Tony Awards, Best Original Score and Best Orchestrations, when it first premiered on Broadway in 2014 directed by Bartlett Sher, starring Kelli O'Hara and Steven Pasquale.
In the musical, Francesca is an Italian immigrant housewife living a happy existence on a farm in the American Midwest. When her family heads to the Iowa State Fair, she meets Robert Kincaid, a National Geographic photographer on assignment filming bridges in the area. Their initial friendship develops into a brief but passionate affair which has consequences on all of their lives.
