Nick Afoa is to join the touring production of The Lion King as Simba from 30th April.
The New Zealand-born, Auckland-raised performer had a promising rugby
career with the All Blacks until he retired due to injury. After
recovering and dedicating himself to his theatre career, nearly a decade
later the 30 year-old beat 400 other hopefuls to the role of Simba in
the Australian production in 2013. He has performed in London for the past three years.
The touring production of The Lion King is currently playing at the Edinburgh Playhouse until 18th April before moving on to the Alhambra Bradford – where Afoa will join the cast – followed by Cardiff, Southampton and Manchester. Further dates will be announced in due course.
