More casting has just been announced for the London production for Hello Dolly! starring Imelda Staunton in the title role with previously announced co-stars Jenna Russell as Irene Molloy - a widow and a beautiful, smart, fun-loving
milliner with a hat shop in New York who Dolly has introduced to Andy Nyman who is playing Horace Vandergelder a wealthy well-known gruff,
authoritative and very set in his ways widower who is proprietor of a
Hay & Feed store.
Joining the lead cast are newly announced stars Harry Hepple who will play Cornelius Hackl (Vandergelder's chief clerk an innocent, enthusiastic, and adventurous young man played by Michael Crawford in the movie and Charlie Stemp more recently in the Broadway production starring Bette Midler), Claire Halse (42nd Street) will play Minnie Faye - Irene's shop assistant - and Tyrone Huntley (Jesus Christ Superstar) will portray Barnaby Tucker- A sweet, naïve, energetic assistant to Cornelius at Vandergelder's Hay & Feed store.
They will be joined by Craig Armstrong, Gemma Atkins, Jenni Bowden, Alan Bradshaw, Natalie Chua, Joshua Clemetson, Brendan Cull, Bessy Ewa, Isaac Gryn, Ashlee Irish, Jodie Jacobs, Paul Kemble, Emily Langham, Amira Matthews, Sarah Marie Maxwell, Laura Medforth, Matt Overfield, Angelo Paragoso, Tom Partridge, Wendy Lee Purdy, Edwin Ray, Phil Snowden, Bree Smith, Christine Tucker, Gavin Wilkinson and Liam Wrate.
The production will play a limited 30-week engagement at the Adelphi Theatre beginning August 11th. It will be directed by Dominic Cooke, with Rae Smith as costume and scenic designer, with Nicholas Skilbeck as musical director with choreography by Bill Deamer.
Also according to today´s Mail cast members have been told there will be no holidays for them during the 30-week run. Instead producers Michael Harrison and David Ian will pay them in lieu of holiday entitlements, plus they will perform only seven (rather than the usual eight) performances a week.
