Saturday Night Fever Tour cast announced

The cast has been revealed for the upcoming tour of Saturday Night Fever, kicking off next week  in Milton Keynes. Based on the hit film of the same name, the show will be led by Jack Wilcox as Tony Manero, with Rebekah Bryant as his dance partner Stephanie.

The production features the onstage presence of the Bee Gees, played by Drew Ferry, Oliver Thomson and AJ Jenks.

Completing the cast are Harry Goodson-Bevan (Bobby C), James Brice (Gus), Liam Morris (Double J), Dominic Gore (Joey), Billie Hardy (Annette), Tosca Fischer (Connie), Emily Bolland (Linda), Phillip Aiden (Frank Senior), Marios Nicolaides (Frank Junior), Melody Jones (Flo Manero), Faizal Jaye (DJ Monty) with ensemble  members Yiota Theo, Ashley Luke Lloyd, Anthony Starr, Joshua Clayton (, Helen Gulston and James Cohen.

Bill Kenwright's production of the stage version of the much-loved 1977 movie has choreography by Bill Deamer, design by Gary McCann, lighting by Nick Richings, and sound by Dan Samson. Further creatives are to be revealed.

Les Miserables tour announces new cast members

Cameron Mackintosh has just announced Siobhan O’Driscoll as ‘Éponine’ and Lauren Drew as ‘Fantine’ joining the company of the acclaimed UK and Ireland Tour of Boublil and Schönberg’s “LES MISÉRABLES”.

Siobhan O’Driscoll stars as ‘Éponine’ from Wednesday 31 August, when the show opens in Norwich. Her previous theatre credits include playing Heather in both the UK Tour and New Zealand productions of American Idiot.

Lauren Drew stars as ‘Fantine’ from Wednesday 2 November, when the show opens in Sunderland. Lauren was most recently seen in Legally Blonde at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. Her other theatre credits include Catherine of Aragon in the UK Tour of SIX, Heathers at The Other Palace, Evita at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and Kinky Boots at the Adelphi Theatre. She was a contestant on ITV’s The Voice UK in 2021, reaching the semi finals.

Siobhan O’Driscoll and Lauren Drew join Dean Chisnall as ‘Jean Valjean’, Nic Greenshields as ‘Javert’ Ian Hughes as ‘Thénardier’, Will Callan as ‘Marius’, Helen Walsh as ‘Madame Thénardier’, Samuel Wyn-Morris as ‘Enjolras’ and Paige Blankson as ‘Cosette’.

Since Cameron Mackintosh first conceived this acclaimed new production of LES MISÉRABLES in 2009, to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary, it has taken the world by storm. It will relaunch its record-breaking tour of North America in October this year, a new tour of The Netherlands is set for early 2023 with further productions to be announced.

New cast members announced for &Juliet musical

The producers of & Juliet Max Martin musical playing at the Shaftesbury Theatre have just announced three new cast members will be joining West End hit. They are Nicolas Colicos, who will play Lance, Billy Nevers as Francois and Joe Foster who will be May. The new three have their first performances on Monday 26 September

Nicolas Colicos’ theatre credits include Bones in the original cast of Sister Act at the London Palladium, Francz Liebkind in The Producers in the West End and Bill in the original cast of Mamma Mia. His film and TV work includes Kingsman II, Superman IV and Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.

Billy Nevers was in the original ensemble of & Juliet, and is thrilled to be to returning in the role of Francois. His other work includes Legally Blonde at Regents Park Open Air Theatre and Jesus Christ Superstar at the Barbican and Regents Park.

Joe Foster recently appeared in Legally Blonde at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Hex at the National Theatre and Rent at Hope Mill Theatre.

My Fair Lady UK and Ireland tour announces casting

Initial casting has been confirmed for the  UK and Ireland  tour of My Fair Lady.

The Lincoln Center Theater production,plays its final performance at the London Coliseum this Saturday, followed by a tour which will open in  Bradford on 9 September 2022

The cast will be led by Michael D Xavier (Sunset Boulevard) as Henry Higgins, Charlotte Kennedy (Les Misérables) as Eliza Doolittle, Adam Woodyatt (EastEnders) as Alfred P Doolittle, Heather Jackson (The Phantom of the Opera) as Mrs Higgins, John Middleton (Emmerdale) as Colonel Pickering, Lesley Garrett (The Messiah) as Mrs Pearce and Tom Liggins (who made his professional debut in the Coliseum run of My Fair Lady) as Freddy Eynsford-Hill.

Award-winning West End and Broadway star and two-time Olivier Award nominee Michael D. Xavier will play Henry Higgins. Most recently Michael starred on screen with recurring roles in Grantchester (ITV), Outlander (Amazon), Gentleman Jack (BBC) and in The Blacklist (NBC). Michael spent an incredibly successful year on Broadway in 2017, reprising his role as Joe Gillis opposite Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard and in Hal Prince’s hit show Prince Of Broadway. Michael was nominated for two Olivier Awards in 2011; ‘Best Supporting Performance in a Musical’ (Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince – Into The Woods at The Open Air Theatre) and ‘Best Actor in a Musical’ (Oliver – Love Story at The Duchess Theatre & Chichester Festival Theatre).

Charlotte Kennedy will star as Eliza Doolittle. Charlotte made her professional debut in Les Miserables in the West End and most recently played the role of Cosette.

Best known for playing Ian Beale in EastEnders, Adam Woodyatt will play Alfred P. Doolittle. Ian has played the character of Ian Beale since the programme started in 1985 appearing in over 3460 episodes. Before joining EastEnders as a 16 year old, Adam had enjoyed a successful start to his career in the theatre with roles in Oliver! (Albery Theatre now Noel Coward), On the Razzle (National Theatre) before playing Shiner in the Baker Street Boys (BBC) and Dave Firkettle in Witches and the Grinnygog (TVS).

Heather Jackson will reprise her role as Mrs Higgins which she is currently playing at the London Coliseum. Star of multiple roles all over the UK and Europe, Heather played the part of Madame Giry in the West End production of 'The Phantom of The Opera' for a total of nine years, leaving the show in 2009.

John Middleton will play Colonel Pickering. John is best known for his part in ITV’s Emmerdale as Ashley Thomas, a role which he remained in from 1996 to 2017. After this he starred in a highly successful theatre tour of Strangers on a Train where he appeared as the American detective Arthur Gerard, alongside Christopher Harper, Jack Ashton and Hannah Tointon.

Opera superstar Lesley Garrett will play Mrs Pearce. Lesley is Britain’s best-known soprano, regularly appearing in opera, musical theatre, concert, on television and CD. For more than 30 years she has enjoyed one of the most successful and idiosyncratic careers of any modern-day, classically trained soprano, winning both critical acclaim and the affection of many fans and music lovers through the breadth and diversity of her work. Internationally Lesley has performed throughout Europe, the USA, Australia, Russia, Brazil, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan and South Korea.

Tom Liggins made his professional debut in the West End run of My Fair Lady at the London Coliseum. On tour he will play the role of Freddy Eynsford-Hill

Les Miserables London September cast change

Cameron Mackintosh has just announced new cast members joining the critically acclaimed new production of LES MISÉRABLES at the Sondheim Theatre from Tuesday 27th September.

Joining the company will be David Thaxton as Javert, Ava Brennan as Fantine, Robert Tripolino as Marius, Nathania Ong as Éponine and Lulu-Mae Pears as Cosette. They join Jon Robyns as Jean Valjean, Gerard Carey as Thénardier, Josefina Gabrielle as Madame Thénardier and Jordan Shaw as Enjolras with Hazel Baldwin, Brad Barnley, Emma Barr, Cameron Burt, Natalie Chua, Matthew Dale, Matt Dempsey, Bryony Duncan, Louis Emmanuel, Sophie-May Feek,  Natalie Green, Melad Hamidi, Harry Jack,  Christopher Jacobsen, Benjamin Karran, Yazmin King, Bart Lambert, Sarah Lark, Georgie Lovatt, Ellie Ann Lowe, Adam Robert Lewis, Donald Craig Manuel, Jodie Nolan, Sam Peggs, Jo Stephenson, Phoebe Williams and Ollie Wray.

David Thaxton returns to Les Misérables, having previously played both Javert and Enjolras at the Queen’s Theatre. His other West End credits include Kevin T/Garth in Come From Away at the Phoenix, The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre, Raoul in Love Never Dies at The Adelphi Theatre, Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and Giorgio in Passion at the Donmar Warehouse, for which he won the Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical.


Ava Brennan’s West End theatre credits include Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre, Alline Bullock in Tina - The Tina Turner Musical at the Aldwych Theatre and Mrs Crachit in A Christmas Carol at the Old Vic. She has also appeared in Netflix’s Top Boy and her film credits include Hellboy, Rocketman, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and Beauty and the Beast.

Robert Tripolino’s theatre credits include The Man in Whistle Down The Wind at The Watermill Theatre, Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar and Sal Russo in RAGS at Manchester Hope Mill Theatre. In Australia he has appeared as Jamie in The Last Five Years, Roger in Rent, Chino in West Side Story, Jean-Michel in La Cage Aux Folles, and Jamie in Third World Blues.

Nathania Ong, who most recently played Éponine in the UK and Ireland Tour, now joins the London production in the same role. She graduated from Mountview in 2021 and went on to make her professional debut in Be More Chill at the Shaftesbury Theatre that same year.

 Les Misérables marks Lulu-Mae’s West End debut. She has recently been seen as Graziella in West Side Story at the Ljubljana Festival in Slovenia.

Full cast announced for tour of Strictly Ballroom

Full  casting has been revealed to join Maisie Smith (Eastenders, making her musical theatre debut) and Kevin Clifton (Sricly Come Dancing, Rock of Ages, Singin' in the Rain) in the UK tour of Baz Luhrmann's Strictly Ballroom The Musical.

They will be joined by Nikki Belsher/Shirley Hastings, Mark Sangster/Doug Hastings, Gary Davis/Barry Fife, Quinn Patrick/Les Kendall, Oliver Brooks/JJ Silvers, Jose Agudo/Rico, Karen Mann/Abuela, Maddy Ambus/Liz, Benjamin Harrold/Ken, Jessica Vaux/Charm, Danielle Cato/Tina Sparkle, Kieran Cooper/Wayne, Agnes Pure/Vanessa, Adam Davidson/Nathan and Poppy Blackledge/ Pam, alongside ensemble members Liv Alexander, Edwin Ray, Stuart Rouse and Hollie Jane Stephens and on stage swings Michelle Buckley and Stylianos Thomadakis.The musical is directed by dancer, choreographer, theatre director and TV Judge, Craig Revel Horwood.

Casting for tour of The Color Purple


Leicester’s Curve Theatre and Birmingham Hippodrome have announced the cast of their co-production of acclaimed musical The Color Purple, which is set to tour England and Wales for the first time this autumn thanks to support from Arts Council England’s National Lottery Funding.

Leading the company as the full-hearted heroine Celie is Me’sha Bryan, whose previous roles have included Romantics Anonymous (Bristol Old Vic), Caroline, or Change (The Playhouse Theatre) and The Lion King (UK tour). The role of glamorous singer Shug Avery will be played by Bree Smith (The Wiz, Hope Mill Theatre), Aaliyah Zhané (The Comedy of Errors, Mercury Theatre) joins as Celie’s sister Nettie, Harpo will be played by Ahmed Hamad (The Addams Family, UK Tour and The Boy in the Dress, RSC) and Squeak will be portrayed by Jimand Allotey, who makes her professional stage debut in the production.

The tour sees several cast members from Curve and Birmingham Hippodrome’s original award-winning production return, including Ako Mitchell as Mister, Anelisa Lamola as Sofia, KM Drew Boateng as Pa, Rosemary Annabella Nkrumah as Darlene and Karen Mavundukure as Doris and Alternate Celie.

The cast also includes Kyle Birch, Kayla Carter, Joshua Clemetson, Esme Laudat, DeeArna McLean, Monifa James, Nathaniel Morrison, Alex Okoampa and Neil Patterson.


Lee Mead and Brenda Edwards to star in Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs panto at Wimbledon

New Wimbledon Theatre have just announced the first casting news  for their  Christmas pantomime, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs with  all-star cast including X Factor semi-finalist, Loose Woman, actress and television personality Brenda Edwards; singer, TV actor and musical theatre star Lee Mead; legendary panto Dame and TV presenter Matthew Kelly and TikTok sensation Hannah Lowther Performances begin at New Wimbledon Theatre on Saturday 3rd December 2022 and continue until Saturday 31 December, Tickets are on sale now

The Spirit of Pantomime will be Brenda Edwards whose professional career started when she was the last woman standing in the 2005 season of The X Factor. Since The X Factor Brenda has gone on to take the musical theatre world by storm, playing roles in Chicago, We Will Rock You, Carousel and Hairspray. Brenda has also been a popular face on TV as a regular on ITV’s daytime panel show Loose Women and BBC’s Songs of Praise.

Best-known for winning the BBC talent show Any Dream Will Do, Lee Mead won the title role in the West End revival of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to rave reviews. Since then, Lee has had lead roles in Wicked and Legally Blonde in the West End, released several solo albums and toured extensively. From 2014 to 2016 Lee starred as Ben “Lofty” Chiltern in Casualty, which saw him nominated for various national Best Newcomer television awards, a role he reprised on the popular BBC spin-off series, Holby City. In 2021 Lee celebrated 20 years of his career at The London Palladium, before embarking on a UK tour of his fifth album. 2022 sees Lee play Billy Flynn in the hit musical Chicago. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will see Lee swap the medical gowns for something more regal in the role of The Prince.

Matthew Kelly will play Snow White’s Nurse and is best known for being a presenter on ITV’s Stars in their Eyes, since then Matthew has gone on to become a star of stage and screen and starred in many pantomimes across the country. Matthew’s previous television work includes ITV’s award-winning thriller Cold Blood, Benidorm, Casualty and Heartbeat. His theatre credits include the original Stanley in Funny Peculiar - a role he created at the Liverpool Everyman, Waiting For Godot with Ian McKellen and Roger Rees and Lennie in Of Mice and Men at the Savoy Theatre for which his performance won him an Olivier Award for Best Actor. Matthew has recently played Sir in the UK tour of The Dresser opposite Julian Clary.
 
Musical Theatre sensation Hannah Lowther will play the title role of Snow White. Hannah’s viral musical theatre parody videos took social media by storm, becoming a TikTok-hit in the first lockdown. Hannah recently appeared in Heathers the Musical (The Other Palace) and won three West End Wilma Awards for her performance, she has also appeared in Millennials (The Other Palace) and Kinky Boots–The Musical in Concert (Theatre Royal Drury Lane).

Cast changes for Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club

Cast changes have just been announced for Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club at the reimagined London Playhouse Theatre BAFTA nominee Callum Showells (It's A Sin) and Emmy Award nominee Madeline Brewer will join the show as the Emcee and Sally Bowles from 3 October 2022  with the production currently booking through to 7th January 2023. 

Also joining the cast on 3 October 2022 will be Sid Sagar as Cliff Bradshaw, Danny Mahoney as Ernst Ludwig and Michelle Bishop as Fraulein Kost. Vivien Parry and Richard Katz continue to play Fraulein Schneider and Herr Schultz. At certain performances, the role of Sally Bowles will be played by Emily Benjamin.

The cast is completed by Gabriela Benedetti, Charles Croysdill, Laura Delany, Sally Frith, Matthew Gent, Ying Ue Li, Ela Lisondra, Chris O'Mara, Grant Neal, Hicaro Nicolai, Adam Taylor, Toby Turpin, Patrick Wilden and Sophie Maria Wojna.

The Prologue Company currently includes Rachel Benson, Laura Braid, Asmara Cammock, Julian Capolei, Celine Fortenbacher, Reuben Greeph, Samantha Ho, Andrew Linnie, Carys McQueen, Kate Robson-Stuart and Sally Swanson.

Callum Scott Howells is best known for playing Colin in Russell T Davies’ hit Channel 4 drama It’s a Sin. For his performance as Colin, Callum won the BAFTA Cymru Award for Leading Actor and the Royal Television Society Award for Best Male Actor. For the same role, he was twice nominated at the 2022 BAFTA Television Awards; for Best Supporting Actor and Virgin Media’s Must See Moment. Later this year, he will be seen in the Netflix film The Beautiful Game opposite Bill Nighy. Callum’s theatre credits include She Loves Me at the Menier Chocolate Factory and Matthew Bourne’s production of Lord of the Flies.

Madeline Brewer
has starred as Janine Lindo in all four seasons of Hulu’s hit drama The Handmaid’s Tale, for which she was nominated for the Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. She will star in the fifth season of the show, due to premiere this September. Madeline began her career portraying Tricia Miller in the Netflix series Orange is the New Black. Her film credits include Hustlers alongside Jennifer Lopez and Cam for Netflix. Madeline’s other credits include Netflix/Channel 4’s Black Mirror and Apple TV’s Shining Girls.

New cast members and more dates for Rock of Ages 2022/23 tour

The producers of the tour of ROCK OF AGES have announced full casting for 2022 and additional dates for the remainder of the UK tour starring Kevin Kennedy as ‘Dennis Dupree’ alongside Cameron Sharp as ‘Stacee Jaxx’ from Tuesday 23 August when the show opens in Inverness. The cast also includes Natalie Winsor as ‘Justice’, David Breeds asFranz Klinenmann’ and Tianna Sealy-Jewiss joins the ensemble. They join returning cast members Sam Turrell as ‘Drew’, Gabriella Williams as ‘Sherrie’, Vicki Manser as ‘Regina’, Joe Gash as ‘Lonny’, Vas Constanti as ‘Hertz Klinemann’, and Erin Bell as ‘Constance’ with Billy Roberts, Scott Hayward, Darius James, Reece Duncan, Hollie-Ann Lowe, Phoebe Samuel-Gray and Morgan Scott. The full cast is completed by Billy Roberts, Scott Hayward, Darius James, Siobhan James, Hollie-Ann Lowe, Phoebe Samuel-Gray and Morgan Scott. Full casting for the 2023 tour dates is still to be onfirmed.
 
Kevin Kennedy is probably best known for his portrayal of Curly Watts in Coronation Street. His West End theatre credits include Amos in Chicago at the Adelphi Theatre and We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre. Kevin has played both Caractacus Potts and The Child Catcher in the hit musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, becoming the first actor to have played both roles. He appeared as Dennis Dupree in the 2018 UK Tour of Rock of Ages and has also appeared in the national tours of the musicals The Rocky Horror Show, The Commitments and Kay Mellor’s Fat Friends.

Cameron Sharp returns to Rock of Ages, having been part of the show in the West End and on tour. His other theatre credits include School of Rock at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, Jesus Christ Superstar at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Sunset Boulevard at the Royal Albert Hall and the UK Tour of Beautiful – The Carole King Musical.

Natalie Winsor’s theatre credits include Fame at the Shaftesbury Theatre, ABBA Voyage at the Abba Arena and the UK Tours of Jekyll and Hyde, Cinders and Dirty Dancing. Her other theatre credits include Lavelles – The Ladies of Motown, Rent, Peter Pan and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

David Breeds was most recently seen in the West End in Dear Evan Hansen at the Noel Coward Theatre. His other theatre credits include the National Theatre’s tour of The Curious Incident of the Dog In The Nighttime and Gary Barlow and Tim Firth’s The Girls. 

Sam Turrell returns to Rock of Ages and the role of Drew having performed the show around the world on the NCL Breakaway cruise ship.

Gabriella Williams theatre credits include Sophie in Mamma Mia! at the Novello Theatre, Eugenius! at the London Palladium, Carrie The Musical at the Southwark Playhouse and Miss Saigon and Grease, both on a UK tour.

Vicki Manser’s theatre credits include Katherine Howard in Six both at the Arts Theatre and on a UK tour, Beautiful - The Carole King Musical at the Aldwych Theatre and on a UK tour, Bat Out of Hell at the Dominion Theatre and Sunny Afternoon at the Harold Pinter Theatre.

Joe Gash’s theatrical credits include entertainment for P&O Cruises Australia and Kenickie in Grease for Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas. Most recently Joe appeared as Freddie Mercury on ITV1’s new show Starstruck.

The Drifters Girl to close in October and then go out on tour

Hit musical The Drifters Girl which was previously booking at the Garrick Theatre in London to 2023 will now  end its run on 15th October and then head out on  a tour which will open at the Mayflower Theatre in September 2023.

Producers Michael Harrison and David Ian said: When Adam, Tarinn, Matt and Tosh agreed to be in The Drifters Girl, we were overjoyed because we knew they were special. As are our team of covers, who kept the show going through the immensely difficult periods that the entire theatre industry has faced with Covid. Now we are fortunate to have Felicia, who is giving a thrilling performance every night as Faye Treadwell. It is an extraordinary company. Replacing them all was always going to be difficult, so we have made the decision to close the show when everyone's contracts end on 15 October.

Cast Announced for new musical Rehab to open this autumn

The new musical Rehab that follows a jaded pop star who finds himself facing the consequences of court action, is set to open in London later this year running at the Playground Theatre in West London from 1st to 17th  September. 

The cast includes  Keith Allen (The Homecoming), Jonny Labey (Strictly Ballroom), Gloria Onitiri (ALW's Cinderella) and John Barr (Les Misérables). Jodie Steele (Heathers), as well as TV presenter Annabel Giles (My Shirley Valentine Summer).

Andy Brady, Dawn Buckland, Marion Campbell, Andrew Patrick-Walker and Phil Sealey complete the cast.

It is directed and choreographed by Gary Lloyd and is written  by Grant Black (the son of Oscar winner Don Black, who also co-produces) and Murray Lachlan Young with a book by Elliot Davis

The show is inspired by Black's  own experiences and his decision to enter into a rehabilitation clinic.

The production,  has musical supervision and arrangements by Simon Lee, with set and lighting design by Andrew Exeter, costume design by Rob Jones, sound by Chris Whybrow and casting by Debbie O'Brien. Jane Savidge is associate producer.

Willy Wonka announced for new tour of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Casting for Willy Wonka has been revealed for the  new tour of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which kicks off at at Leeds Playhouse in November

Gareth Snook who also starred in chocolate factory-set Romantics Anonymous, will play chocolate maker Willy Wonka in the production. His other credits include Wise Children and Bagdad Café, while he also played Monsieur André in The Phantom of the Opera at both Her Majesty's Theatre and in the 25th Anniversary production at the Royal Albert Hall and Les Misérables in the West End.

The full cast and creative team are still  to be revealed.
