Anything Goes to be shown on BBC this Christmas

The Barbican production of Anything Goes will be shown on BBC2 on Boxing Day at 6.40pm,

Starring  Sutton Foster as Reno Sweeney, alongside Robert Lindsay as Moonface Martin, Felicity Kendal as Evangeline Harcourt and Gary Wilmot as Elisha Whitney, the piece was filmed during its acclaimed run at the Barbican Theatre this past summer, which broke box office records. It will subsequently be available on BBC iPlayer.

The production will return for a new tour and Barbican run in 2022.

ANYTHING GOES – CINEMA RELEASE CONFIRMED

The revival of the outstanding  Anything Goes which ends its run at the Barbican on 6th November is to  be shown in cinemas,with Sutton Foster as Reno Sweeney leading a filmed version of the Cole Porter musical about high jinks on the high seas. 

Director Kathleen Marshall and camera crews have spent the week filming the production, which also stars Robert Lindsay as Moonface Martin, Felicity Kendal as Evangeline Harcourt and  Gary Wilmot as Elisha Whitney.

 It will be shown in cinemas across the UK on November 28th and December 1st. Tickets for screenings go on sale next Friday, October 15, via AnythingGoesMusicalCinema.com.

Anything Goes at Barbican extends run with new cast announcements

The West End production of Anything Goes at the Barbican will have a  new Reno Sweeney for its final weeks with American actress Rachel York taking over on 12th October from  two-time Tony Award-winner Sutton Foster who leaves the production on 10th October.

She has appeared on Broadway as Fantine in LES MISERABLES; Norma in Victor/Victoria (Drama Desk Award) with Julie Andrews; Marguerite in The Scarlet Pimpernel; Miss Fancy in Sly Fox with Richard Dreyfuss; and Christine Colgate in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Jonathan Pryce. She appeared off-Broadway opposite Julie Andrews in Stephen Sondheim's Putting It Together and in the Lincoln Center Theater production of Dessa Rose. Most recently, Rachel appeared on Broadway in Disaster! and Head Over Heels. 

Haydn Gwynne (Billy Elliot) will replace Felicity Kendal in the role of Evangeline Harcourt from  October 19th.

The production has also added two additional matinee performances on October 27th and November 3rd and will now  play its final performance at the Barbican  on November 6th.

Full casting announced for Anything Goes at the Barbican

Anything Goes the Musical begins performances at London`s Barbican on 23rd July (rescheduled from 5th June) for a strictly limited run until 17th October

As previously revealed, it stars Robert Lindsay, Felicity Kendal, Gary Wilmot and Sutton Foster (who replaces injured Megan Mullally) with  Samuel Edwards as Billy Crocker,  Nicole-Lily Baisden as Hope Harcourt, Carly Mercedes Dyer as Erma and Haydn Oakley as Lord Evelyn Oakleigh.

They will be joined by: Martin Callaghan (Ship's Purser), Jon Chew (John), Clive Hayward (Ship's Captain), Alistair So (Luke), Marc Akinfolarin, Simon Anthony, Georgie Ashford, Vivien Carter, Natalie Chua, Eamonn Cox, Jordan Crouch, Frances Dee, Charlene Ford, Selina Hamilton, Maddie Harper, Michael Lin, Robbie McMillan, Tom Partridge, Jack Wilcox, Alexandra Wright, George Beet, Gabrielle Cocca, Emily Ormiston and Liam Wrate.

More casting with new opening date at Barbican and tour announced for Anything Goes

Further casting has been announced for the  West End revival of Anything Goes at the Barbican which will now preview from 5th June, with an opening night on the 17th  and running to 22nd  August. 

Following its London run It will also go on a very short tour to Dublin Bord Gais Energy Theatre (26 August -11 September) The Salford Lowry (15-25 September); the Southampton Mayflower (September 28 - October 2) and Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre (October 12-17 ) with tickets now on sale  and casting for the tour still to be revealed

Felicity Kendal  is making her musical theatre debut as Evangeline Harcourt with  Gary Wilmot as  Elisha Whitney who will join Megan Mullally (best known for playing Karen Walker in Will & Grace) will make her London musical theatre debut as Reno Sweeney with West End star Robert Lindsay  Mullally as Moonface Martin with more casting news to follow.

Megan Mullally and Robert Lindsay to lead Kathleen Marshall production of Anything Goes at the Barbican in May

A new UK production of Anything Goes from Tony-winner Kathleen Marshall  will open at the Barbican in the autumn with performances  scheduled to run from 8 May - 22 Aug. 2021.  It will be an entirely reimagined take on Marshall's  Tony award winning  2011 Broadway production of the Cole Porter classic "tailor made" for her stars.

Megan Mullally (best known for playing Karen Walker in Will & Grace) will make her London musical theatre debut as Reno Sweeney in the production . She has appeared in Broadway productions of Grease and Young Frankenstein, with London performances with her band Supreme Music Program at the Vaudeville Theatre in 2010.

West End star Robert Lindsay is set to star opposite Mullally as Moonface Martin. His many musical theare credits include  appearing  in London's Savoy Theatre  in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels as well as winning Tony and Olivier Awards for his performances in Me and My Girl and Becket.

Further casting  is to be announced with rehearsals set to begin in March.

The iconic musical  has a book by Guy Bolton and P G Wodehouse, with music and lyrics by Cole Porter. 

Cole Porter’s , multi-award winning musical comedy, transports you to the magical age of tap dancing and high society.When Billy Crocker discovers that his heart’s desire, debutante heiress Hope Harcourt is engaged to an English aristocrat, he stows away aboard the S.S. American to win her back. Aided by a string of eccentric passengers on board the luxurious transatlantic liner, can this web of love be untangled before they reach Southampton?

Musical standards  include “You're the Top," "Blow, Gabriel, Blow," "It's De-Lovely," "I Get A Kick Out of You," and "Anything Goes.

The creative team for the show includes Tony award winning set designer Derek McLane, lighting designer Neil Austin, sound designer Simon Baker, and music supervisor Stephen Ridley.

Maria Friedman, Jenna Russell, Graham Bickley and Clive Rowe in Cole Porter Anything Goes Concerts

Maria Friedman, Jenna Russell, Graham Bickley and Clive Rowe are performing at the Cadogan Hall between 20th August-23rd August in Anything Goes which is a 50th Anniversary Celebration of the music of Cole Porter.

Featuring the best from classic shows including  Anything Goes, Kiss Me Kate and High Society they will be accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Richard Balcombe.
