More casting announced for Elf the Musical

Further casting has been revealed for the  return of Elf the Musical  at London's Dominion Theatre for a strictly limited eight-week season from 14th November 2022 to 7th January 2023.

Based on the  the much-loved festive film of the same name, is already set to star Simon Lipkin (Nativity!) in the lead role, alongside Georgina Castle (Millennials) as Jovie. Joining them and announced today is Tom Chambers (White Christmas, Top Hat) taking on the role of Walter Hobbs, the father of Buddy (the lost elf who is returned home).

Also appearing will be Kim Ismay (Wicked) as Debs, Nicholas Pound (Les Misérables) as Santa and Dermot Canavan (Fiddler on the Roof) as the Store Manager.

Also in the cast are Evonnee Bentley-Holder, Kyle Cox, Jade Davies, Bethan Downing, Francis Foreman, Morgan Gregory, Ryan Jupp, Ellis Linford-Pill, Shane O'Riordan, Theo Reece, Chloe Saunders, Heather Scott-Martin, Jessica Spalis, Michael Tyler, Katie Warsop and Natalie Woods. Dexter Barry, Logan Clark, Alfie Morwood and Frankie Treadaway will alternate the role of Michael, with further casting still to be revealed.

SIMON LIPKIN & GEORGINA CASTLE LEADING CAST IN ELF - THE MUSICAL

Simon Lipkin and Georgina Castle will lead the revival of Elf - The Musical playing the much loved characters Buddy and Jovie. 

The musical returns to London in a new production at the Dominion Theatre for a strictly limited 8-week season running from 14th November 2022 - 7th January 2023.

Based on the iconic 2003 feature film starring Will Ferrell, the piece  is the funny and charming tale of Buddy, who mistakenly crawled into Santa’s bag as a baby and was raised as an elf! Way too tall and not so great at his job, Buddy is the North Pole’s biggest misfit… and knows he’ll never belong. When Santa tells him the truth, Buddy heads to New York to find his birth father (who turns out to be quite high on the Naughty List). After causing some merry mayhem in Manhattan, Buddy finally discovers the gift of family and falls in love. And when Santa’s sleigh crashes in Central Park, it’s Buddy who finds a way to save Christmas forever!

Elf the Musical to run at the Dominion Theatre over Christmas

A new production of  Elf  the musical is running at London´s Dominion Theatre from 14th November 2022 to 7th January 2023 for a strictly limited eight-week season.

The new version of the show, produced by Temple Live Entertainment,  has yet to announce casting. It will be directed by Philip Wm McKinley, with original set and costume design by Tim Goodchild, choreography by Liam Steel, lighting design by Patrick Woodroffe and sound by Gareth Owen. Casting will be by Grindrod Burton Casting.

Based on the iconic 2003 feature film starring Will Ferrell, the piece  is the funny and charming tale of Buddy, who mistakenly crawled into Santa’s bag as a baby and was raised as an elf! Way too tall and not so great at his job, Buddy is the North Pole’s biggest misfit… and knows he’ll never belong. When Santa tells him the truth, Buddy heads to New York to find his birth father (who turns out to be quite high on the Naughty List). Elf was first seen on Broadway in 2010, with a West End premiere (also at the Dominion) following in 2015 – where it became the fastest selling show at the venue since it opened in 1929.

Kym Marsh, Tam Ryan & Shaun Williamson appearing in Elf Arena tour this Christmas

The West End and Broadway musical Elf will again embark on a  limited arena tour this year running at:

Appearing in the 2019 stadium tour will be Kym Marsh/Buddy's girlfriend Jovie, Tam Ryan/ reprising the role of Buddy and Shaun Williamson as Buddy's dad Walter Hobbs. The cast also features Father Christmas, and a dozen cirque stars, in a cast of 100.

This unique production has three stages, so you are always close to the action, with a giant 30 foot-tall Christmas tree that the audience get to decorate, a flying sleigh, and high octane stunts. In case you miss anything, there are enormous TV screens relaying the action that also show amazing CGI scenery.

More tickets released for Elf Christmas Spectacular starring David Essex and Martine McCutcheon

In response to high  public demand, 10,000 extra tickets have been released and are now on sale  for Elf - A Christmas Spectacular starring  David Essex and  Martine McCutcheon.

Elf has become the fastest selling Christmas show this year with over 30,000 tickets being snapped up during the first three weeks of it going on sale, with the  producers adding an extra show at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff on 16th December at 5:00 pm and releasing extra tickets to all performances at Birmingham's Genting Arena and the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham. Elf offers discounted tickets for children (up to age 16) with £10 off most price bands.

Elf The Musical announces Christmas Spectacular arena Tour starring David Essex and Martine McCutcheon

Elf the Musical is to tour the UK, playing three major arenas with a Christmas Spectacular   opening at  Cardiff Motorpoint Arena on 14th-16th  December, before touring to Birmingham Genting Arena (20-24 December) and Nottingham Motorpoint Arena. (28-30 December).

It will star David Essex as Buddy's grumpy father Walter Hobbs and Martine McCutcheon  as Jovie (Buddy's girlfriend).  Also cast is Tam Ryan as Buddy, Louise English as Buddy's Stepmother Emily Hobbs, with Father Christmas and 70 performers, including children from local Pauline Quirke Academy stage schools

The show is narrated by Santa Claus and based on the 2003 movie starring Will Ferrell, telling the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole. Unaware that he is actually human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. He finds him, but like many other New Yorkers he doesn't believe in the spirit of Christmas, which is a problem, because Santa's sleigh is powered by the people's belief in Christmas.

The musical has been performed in London at the Dominion Theatre in 2015 followed by runs at  Plymouth Theatre and Salford Lowry starring Ben Forster in the lead role. It  was recorded live at the Lowry and shown on Channel 5 last Christmas.  This new production will be enhanced with giant screens, showing both computer graphic backdrops and live-action close-ups. The 5,000 seat arena layout will have a 70-foot wide stage and a 60-foot long thrust, with some scenes taking place around and above the audience.

Essex said: "The big special effects that we have lined-up are incredible, including a giant sleigh which will fly across the arena, an indoor snow blizzard and lots of skating which all adds to this perfect Christmas story." .

Tickets go on presale at 10:00 on 8th March and on general sale on 9th March at 09:00

Open auditions for Elf: the Musical

Elf: The Musical are holding open auditions to find a young actor to play Michael Hobbs in the show which stars Ben Forster and opens in Plymouth in November before heading to The Lowry, Salford for Christmas.

Producers are looking for boys aged between nine and 12 years old who are no taller than four feet ten inches, and can act sing (unbroken voice), and move well.Auditions will be held at The Lowry, Salford on 18 June from 10:00 am. The successful actor must be prepared to travel to London for rehearsals and Plymouth for the first week of the run. For more information, email david@london-management.co.uk.

Elf is based on the 2003 film starring Will Ferrell about an orphan elf who learns his father lives in New York. It features a book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin, with music and lyrics by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, and got its UK premiere at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth in 2014.

Elf: The Musical runs at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth from 11 to 18 November, and The Lowry, Salford from 24 November to 14 January.

Elf the Musical Christmas Show at Dominion

Elf:the Musical  is to play at  the Dominion Theatre next Christmas from  October 24th for a ten-week run.

The successful Broadway musical went on a  short tour at the end of last year starring Ben Forster (of Jesus Christ Superstar fame) in the title role.

Ben Forster starring in Tour of Elf the Musical

Updated 25th September: Ben Forster will star in the leading role of Buddy the Elf this Christmas. Joining Ben will be Irish stage and screen star Aoibhínn McGinnity in the role of Jovie with JoeMcGann and Jessica Martin.

There will be a tour of the Broadway hit  Elf the Musical at the end of this year.The only dates we  have so far are Theatre Royal Plymouth (6th-13th December) and Bord Gais Energy in Dublin (16 December - 10 January). The show ran on Broadway in the Christmas seasons of 2010-11 and 2012-13, and also toured the US.in 2012.
