Complete casting for the new tour of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie


Complete casting has just been revealed for the new tour of Everybody’s Talking About Jamiewhich commences this autumn.

As already confirmed, Ivano Turco will lead the tour in the title role, with Rebecca McKinnis (Dear Evan Hansen) as Margaret New,  Shobna Gulati (The Rise and Fall of Little Voice) as Ray and Talia Palamathanan (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie tour and film) as Pritti.

Strictly Come Dancing professional and series 16 winner Kevin Clifton will play Hugo/Loco Chanelle from 25 March to 15 July 2024, while author, podcast host and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here winner Giovanna Fletcher will play Miss Hedge from 8 January  to  23 March 2024 (after Hayley Tamaddon completes her run in the show) with X-Factor winner Sam Bailey taking over the role of Miss Hedge from 25 March to 15 July 2024. John Partridge will take on the role of Hugo/Loco Chanelle this autumn.

Completing the cast for the 2023 to 2024 UK tour are KY Kelly, aka Anthony Gyde (Laika Virgin), Garry Lee (Sandra Bollock), David McNair(Tray Sophisticay), Akshay St Clair (Dad), Jordan Ricketts (Dean), Liv Ashman (Vicki), Rhiannon Bacchus (Fatimah), Geoff Berrisford (Sayid), Jessica Daugirda (Bex), Finton Flynn (Young Loco Chanelle / Jamie New cover), Annabelle Laing (Becca), Luca Moscardini (Levi), Joshian Omana (Cy), Thomas Walton (Mickey), Takayiah Bailey (Swing) and Georgina Hagen (Understudy Margaret / Ray / Miss Hedge).

More casting announced for tour of Everybody's Talking About Jamie


Hayley Tamaddon, who has appeared in  Coronation Street and Emmerdale, has joined the cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie on tour as Miss Hedge from 7 September to 25 November 2023.

She previously appeared in the West End production of the musical at the Apollo Theatre  and will be appearing with a previously announced cast that includes Ivano Turco (Bad Cinderella) as Jamie New, Rebecca McKinnis as Margaret New, Shobna Gulati as Ray, and Talia Palamathanan as Pritti. John Partridge will portray Hugo/Loco Chanelle during two separate periods of the tour. Further casting announcements are yet to come.

Everybody`s Talking About Jamie London and tour cast announced

The  musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie has announced the initial casting for its second UK and Ireland tour as well as an extended London season. 

After a successful three-year residency in London's West End and a sold-out UK and Ireland tour, the show will now open at The Lowry on 7 September 2023 before traveling to other cities across the UK.

Ivano Turco, who has starred in productions such as Get Up, Stand Up! and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella, will take on the lead role of Jamie New, with Rebecca McKinnis (Dear Evan Hansen) returning as Margaret New, alongside Shobna Gulati (who also starred in the film adaptation of the show)  as Ray, with Talia Palamathanan (who also appeared in the ensemble for the film) as Pritti.

John Partridge ( Eastenders, La Cage Aux Folles, and A Chorus Line) will play the role of Hugo/Loco Chanelle from 7 September until 11 November 2023 and from 16 January until 16 March. Further casting will be announced at a later date.

Everybody's Talking About Jamie returning to the Apollo Theatre with a six-month run beginning November 28th

The  West End musical Everybody's Talking About Jamie is making its West End return next month with a full cast and orchestra - and Covid-19 secure in all areas  - at the Apollo Theatre with  a six-month run  from  November 28th 2020-February 28th 2021 and extend as demand warrants.

Changes have been made to the show's staging to 'reflect a new Covid world' including the ensemble members playing school kids wearing masks.The full  cast includes  Noah Thomas as Jamie and Melissa Jacques as his mum Margaret, Sejal Keshwala as Ray, Hiba Elchikhe as Pritti Pasha, Gillian Ford as Miss Hedge and  Phil Nichol will play Loco Chanelle (taking over from Rufus Hound, who has committed to Dancing On Ice).

With Alexander Archer (Mickey), Zion Battles (Levi), Ebony Clarke (Swing), Marlon G. Day (Jamie's Dad), James Gillan (Tray Sophisticay), Zahra Jones (Becca), Emily Kenwright (Vicki), Keenan Knight (Sayid), Jordan Laviniere (Cy), Garry Lee (Sandra Bollock), Brian James Leys (understudy), David O'Reilly (Laika Virgin), Harriet Payne (Bex), Jordan Ricketts (Dean Paxton), Rachel Seiran (Fatimah) and Joe Wolstenholme (Swing).

Rufus Hound and Katy Brand to join cast of Jamie Musical at the Apollo next month

According to this morning's Mail, actor, presenter and comedian Rufus Hound will join the cast of Everybody's Talking About Jamie at the Apollo  Shaftesbury Avenue to play Hugo/Loco Chanelle ⁩ from March 16th -May 30th.  His previous musical theatre credits include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and The Wind in the Willows.

Actress, comedian and writer Katy Brand is also due to join the show as Miss Hedge⁩ from March 3rd-June 20th.

New London cast for Everybody's Talking About Jamie

A new cast for Everybody's Talking About Jamie has been announced for the West End where it is currently booking at the Apollo Theatre until 29th August 2020.

Joining the previously announced Noah Thomas from 6th  January 2020 will be Hiba Elchikhe, making her West End debut playing the role of Pritti Pasha, David O'Reilly in the role of Laika Virgin, Leon Craig as Sandra Bollock and Jordan Ricketts also makes his West End debut playing Dean.

Other new  cast members joining  them include Zion Battles (Levi), Keenan Knight (Sayid), Ebony Clarke (Swing/Dance Captain), Joe Wolstenholme (Swing) and Brian James Leys (Understudy).

Continuing with the show are current cast members: Melissa Jacques (Margaret New), Preeya Kalidas (Miss Hedge), Sejal Keshwala (Ray), Roy Haylock/Bianca Del Rio (Hugo/Loco Chanelle), James Gillan (Tray Sophisticay), Marlon G. Full casting announced for tour of Everybody's Talking About Jamie

The full cast has been announced for the  tour of Everybody's Talking About Jamie which opens in Sheffield next February. Joining the already announced Layton Williams and Shane Richie will be  Shobna Gulati (Rey), Amy Ellen Richardson (Margaret New), George Sampson (Dean), Lara Denning (Miss Hedge), Sharan Phull (Pritti Pasha), Cameron Johnson (Sandra Bollock / Jamie's Dad), John Paul McCue (Laika Virgin), Rhys Taylor (Tray Sophisticay), Richard Appiah-Sarpong (Cy), Simeon Beckett (Levi), Kazmin Borrer (Vicki), Ellis Brownhill (Mickey), Jodie Knight (Fatimah), Jessica Meegan (Bex), Talia Palamathanan (Becca), Adam Taylor (Sayid), Alex Hetherington (swing), Emma Robotham-Hunt (swing), Ellie Leah (understudy) and Garry Lee (understudy).
The show  is also running in the West End,  and is based on the documentary Jamie: Drag Queen in 16, and has been adapted into a major film, which will be released in 2020 (Gulati will also appear in the film).

Noah Thomas announced as new lead in Everybody's Talking about Jamie

Noah Thomas, a  student from Mountview Theatre School has landed the title role in West End musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

The highly successful show is currently booking until 29th August 2020  with new cast rehearsals starting  on Monday. Noah has admitted that he’s ‘as excited as I am terrified . . . you need a little bit of fear in you to get through’.

The 20-year-old South Londoner, who started acting lessons when he was five, will play  the part of 16-year-old Jamie  on January 6th at the Apollo Theatre. He will take over  from Layton Williams, who will lead a touring production   which kicks off in Shefffield in February.

Everybody's Talking About Jamie extends London run and announces open casting call for lead role

It has just been announced  that the hit West End musical, Everybody's Talking About Jamie, is to  extend its run at the Apollo Theatre through to August 29th , 2020.

The production has also announced an open casting call for the title role which will be held  Sheffield Crucible on 8th October and at The Apollo on Shaftesbury Avenue on October 10th and.They are also accepting video submissions of hopefuls singing the first 16 bars of "...And You Don't Even Know It," which should be sent to jamiecasting@nimaxtheatres.com

The hit musical is also embarking on an extensive UK tour opening at  Sheffield next February.

Everybody's Talking About Jamie movie due for release in October 2020

The release date for  the Everybody's Talking About Jamie movie  will open in cinemas on 23rd October 2020, with 20th Century Fox distributing the piece.

As previously announced, the lead role of Jamie New will be played by newcomer Max Harwood, who makes his professional debut in the film. He was selected following an open casting call, with 20 young locals from Sheffield cast. Richard E Grant (Withnail and I) will take on the role of Hugo / Loco Chanel, with Sarah Lancashire (Happy Valley) playing Margaret New, Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe) as Miss Hedge and Shobna Gulati playing Ray, after having taken on the role in the West End.

The film is currently shooting and is directed by Jonathan Butterell, who directed the original stage show, with Tom MacRae writing the screenplay.

Everybody's Talking About Jamie   is currently booking  at the Apollo Theatre until 25th January 2020, and will embark on a new UK tour starting in  February 2020.

Casting news for movie of Everybody's Talking About Jamie

Initial casting has been announced for the film of Everybody's Talking About Jamie which tells the story of a 16-year-old Sheffield schoolboy who dreams of wearing a frock to his school prom and which starts shooting on on June 24th.

Richard E. Grant will play dress shop owner Hugo and his glamorous alter ego Loco Chanelle. Max Harwood, 21, a drama student from London’s Urdang Academy who has won the lead role after a 12-month search involving 3,500 applicants.

John McCrea, who originated the role of Jamie New in the hit West End musical, will join the cast playing the part of Young Loco. The  company also includes award-winning Sarah Lancashire as Margaret, Jamie’s mother; and Sharon Horgan as Miss Hedge, the careers teacher at fictional Mayfield Comprehensive who clashes with Jamie over his personal choices. Shobna Gulati will reprise her role from the theatre production as Ray, Jamie’s mum’s best friend. Lauren Patel and Sam Bottomley will play key student roles.

The story has been opened out extensively in preparation for cameras rolling:  at the Apollo, where theatre owner Nica Burns transferred it from the Crucible, there are 12 actors playing students. In the film, there will be 1,000 for big production numbers.

Everybody's Talking About Jamie is currently booking at London's  Apollo Theatre until 5th January and is also due to head out on tour opening in Sheffield on 8th February next year,

Bill Ward To Join The Cast of EVERYBODY'S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE

Bill Ward, who is best known for his roles Charlie Stubbs in Coronation Street and James Barton in Emmerdale with musical theatre credits including Million Dollar Quartet, Legally Blonde and Viva Forever!   is to join the company of Everybody's Talking About Jamie for a limited run from  1st July.

Ward will  portray the character Hugo and his drag alter ago, Loco Chanelle replacing RuPaul's Drag Race Winner,  Bianca Del Rio, in the role, who leaves the show at the end of June.

Bianca del Rio taking over from Shane Richie in Everybody's Talking About Jamie

RuPaul's Drag Race Winner comic Bianca Del Rio is joining  the cast of Everybody's Talking About Jamie at the Apollo Theatre taking  over the role of Hugo/Loco from Shane Richie from May 6th for eight weeks.

Bianca Del Rio is the season six winner of the hit TV series RuPaul's Drag Race. The entertainer once known as Roy Haylock started  on the New Orleans nightclub circuit and has since become a drag superstar with over  1.7M followers on Instagram, earning awards including NewNowNext's Best New Television Personality, performing sold-out shows around the world and gaining critical acclaim from The New York Times, .

Faye Tozer to join cast of Everybody's Talking About Jamie

Steps star and Strictly Come Dancing finalist Faye Tozer is  joining the West End cast of Everybody's Talking About Jamie playing Miss Hedge for a limited season from 6th May until 3rd August.
 
The show originally opened at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre in 2017 and has music from Dan Gillespie Sells and book and lyrics from Tom MacRae. It is currently in its second year in the West End booking until Saturday 25th January 2020, with current star Layton Williams confirmed to be playing lead character Jamie New until that date.

Faye Tozer is a singer-songwriter, dancer and stage actress who is best known for being a member of the Brit Award winning pop band Steps. Everybody's Talking About Jamie to tour

A UK tour  has been announced for hit musical Everybody's Talking About Jamie. The tour will commence in 2020, with casting details, dates and venues to be announced.
The musical is based on the documentary Jamie: Drag Queen in 16: Jamie New is sixteen and lives on a council estate in Sheffield. Jamie doesn't quite fit in. Jamie is terrified about the future. Jamie is going to be a sensation.

Supported by his brilliant loving mum and surrounded by his friends, Jamie overcomes prejudice, beats the bullies and steps out of the darkness, into the spotlight.

The show recently celebrated its 500th performance in the West End where it is booking until 28 September 2019. It has been adapted into a major film with shooting expected to begin in spring of this year. 

The London show  will welcome a new cast  this evening including  Layton Williams in the title  role with Shane Richie as Hugo/Loco Channelle, Hayley Tamaddon as Miss Hedge, Sejal Keshwala as Ray and Sabrina Sandhu as Pritti Pasha. Rebecca McKinnis continues as Jamie's Mum, Margaret.

Hayley Tamaddon joining more new cast members for Everybody's talking About Jamie

New casting has been announced for the West End production of Everybody's Talking About Jamie with efffect from 28h January.

Hayley Tamaddon (Corrie, Emmerdale, Rocky Horror and Thoroughly Modern Millie) is to replace Michelle Visage as Miss Hedge. Sejal Keshwala will join the company as Ray, and Sabrina Sandhu will play Pritti Pasha from 28 January.

They join the previously announced Layton Williams, who takes on the role of Jamie New and Shane Richie who will play Hugo/Loco Chanelle.

New cast members also include Marlon G Day (Dad), Momar Diagne, Zahra Jones (Becca), Luke Latchman (Sayid), Ziggy Tyler Taylor (Levi) and swings Rachel Price Biancha Szynal and Adam Taylor

Shane Richie to join Everybody's talking About Jamie in January

Shane Richie is  joining the cast of the hit West End Musical, Everybody's Talking About Jamie from January 29th- 4th May  taking over from Lee Ross the dual role   of dress hire shop owner Hugo Battersby — who by night becomes drag queen Loco Chanel.The timing coincides with the current Jamie,  John McCrea, due to leave the show with his replacement still to be announced.
Richie has played a number of  roles on stage and screen and including musicals Boogie Nights, the 1993 London revival production of Grease plus UK tours of One Flew over The Cuckoo's Nest and Scrooge: The Musical,   He has released two albums, and had a number 2 hit in the UK Singles Chart in 2003, with his Children in Need cover version of Wham!'s "I'm Your Man". He  is now  best known for his role as Alfie Moon in BBC TV's EastEnders. 

Shane is no stranger to the world of drag queens, having fronted Shane Richie's Ladies Night back in the early Eighties., featuring two drag queens in lock-ins above pubs. 

Richie said: "Everybody's Talking About Jamie is a terrific show so I jumped at the chance to play Hugo / Loco Chanelle. It's so different to any role I've played before and too good an opportunity to miss. I started my career in night clubs and cabaret pubs – the kind of world Hugo inhabits – where I met some wonderful characters. So in a sense I feel like I've met Hugo / Loco Chanelle before. I've had lots of ideas about how to portray the character and sing the songs. As for my dress and heels, hang onto your handbags!"

Layton Williams to take over from John McCrea in Everybody's Talking About Jamie

A replacement has been named for the title role in the hit musical Everybody's Talking About Jamie has been confirmed with Layton Williams stepping into Jamie's fabulous shoes on 28th January after original star John McCrea leaves the production on the 26th.

His musical theatre  credits include being one of the boys who played the title role in Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace and as Kylie in the BBC TV series Beautiful People. In late 2016 he  played Angel in the 20th UK anniversary tour of Rent  followed by appearing as Seaweed in the last tour of Hairspray.

The hit show Everybody's Talking About Jamie has extended its run several times and is currently booking until April  2019 at the Apollo Theatre.

Michelle Visage to join cast of Everybody's Talking About Jamie

Everybody's Talking About Jamie, the award-winning feel good musical sensation, has announced that internationally renowned personality, Michelle Visage, will be making her West End musical debut playing the role of Miss Hedge from Thursday 18 October 2018 to Saturday 26 January 2019.

Michelle Visage is joining  the West End production of Everybody's Talking About Jamie taking on the role of Miss Hedge (currently being played by Tamsin Carroll) from Thursday 18th October to Saturday 26th January.

The recording artist, actress, author, television personality, podcast co-host and radio show host, best known for being a judge on hit Emmy-winning show RuPaul's Drag Race, will make her West End stage debut in the show, which currently runs at the Apollo Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue.

Producer Nica Burns said: "We are all absolutely delighted to welcome Michelle Visage to the cast of Everybody's Talking About Jamie as our new Miss Hedge. Michelle blew us away with her fantastic singing voice, her excellent characterisation of the part and her charismatic stage presence."

Michelle is an internationally renowned, platinum selling recording artist, actress, author, television personality, podcast co-host, radio show host, who has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry, across multiple mediums for the past three decades. Michelle is best known in the UK for being a judge on Ireland's Got Talent and America's hit TV show RuPaul's Drag Race, which recently won Outstanding Reality-Competition Program at this year's Primetime Emmy Awards. Michelle hosts a podcast with RuPaul named RuPaul: What's the Tee with Michelle Visage which won the award for Best Host at this year's 22nd annual Webby Awards. Michelle was a finalist on Celebrity Big Brother in 2015.

Open auditions announced for film of Everybody's Talking About Jamie

The new film of Everybody's Talking About Jamie is to  find its primary cast through open auditions in Sheffield. With Warp Films announcing that they will be looking for the cast between now and 22 July.  A representative for Warp said: "We don't want this to be stage school kids, we want this to be anyone and everyone, so if you think someone is special get them to sign up."

The  company are looking for applications from people aged 16 years and upward, but they must look 16 years-old. There are no other restrictions on how an applicant should look, and the company are searching for a variety of people to make up a class of 30. Anyone under 18 will need parental permission to apply and submission must be made  via the website. Successful shortlisted applicants will be contacted by Shaheen Baig Casting by email. If you have not heard from them by 6th August,  you have not been successful.

Everybody's Talking About Jamie by Dan Gillespie Sells and Tom MacRae  is based on a documentary about a 16 year-old boy who wants to be a drag queen is currently running in the West End until April 2019 and originally opened at Sheffield Theatres.

Warp Films' previous projects include This Is England, Donkey Punch and Four Lions.
