Injured Tamzin back on as Sweet Charity

Tamzin Outhwaite was back on stage last night after having two days off because of an injury sustained when she fell  through a set of steps on stage during Tuesday night’s performance of  Sweet Charity.  Miss Outhwaite is rather integral to the plot as she plays the title character Charity Hope Valentine at the Haymarket Theatre.

She carried on with the show but was in so much pain the following day she decided to seek medical advice and had an x-ray to check if she had chipped bone in her ankle. Luckily it was only bruised.  Her role is physically very challenging with a lot of dancing and she was strongly advised to rest up with an ice pack and had to miss a couple of shows. She somehow bounced back to perform last night but is still walking with a slight limp.

After the show she tweeted: "Limped through the show tonight but a wicked audience kept me going!! Thank you xx."

Trevor Nunn told "no name, no Follies"

When Sweet Charity, starring Tamzin Outhwaite,  ends its run at the Theatre Royal Haymarket at the end of this year, Trevor Nunn is to direct four productions there and has included the Stephen Sondheim musical Follies on the list of shows he wants to present as part of the season.

But he will need to sign a major box-office name before he will get the green light for Follies as it will cost £2 million.

Sweet Charity on the Move

As mentioned in my previous blog  Tamzin Outhwaite and the cast of Sweet Charity are moving from the Menier Chocolate Factory to the Theatre Royal Haymarket.  They close at the Menier on 7th March and start previewing at the Haymarket on April 23rd,opening on 4th May.  It is now booking until 8th January 2011.

Rehearsals for the transfer start on 16th April as the actors will need to adapt to the new, larger space. Also there might be the odd cast change, but most of the principal cast members are due to transfer with the show.
