Newsies musical coming to London

Breaking news today is that Newsies the Musical  is heading for London. More details are expected very shortly.

The much-loved musical, about a group of news boys and inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899. Set in turn-of-the century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged “newsies.” When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what’s right!.It had its stage premiere at the Paper Mill Playhouse in 2011 and made its Broadway debut in 2012, but has yet to be seen professionally in the UK – though an acclaimed ArtsEd production was led by Jac Yarrow.

It ha been confirmed that "all new London edition" of the show the show is running this year at  a venue to be revealed. The piece has music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and a book by Harvey Fierstein – which is in turn based on Bob Tzudiker and Noni White's screenplay.
