More Waitress cast changes

Waitress the musical in London  is to welcome Evelyn Hoskins (Assassins, Spring Awakening) to the role of Dawn  on 25th  January following Hannah Tointon’s final performance, while original London cast member Marisha Wallace (Dreamgirls, Aladdin) will resume the role of Becky on 6th January following Sandra Marvin’s final performance. Monique Ashe-Palmer will  join in the ensemble from 9th January, taking on the role from Cindy Belliot.

Waitress features an original score by 8-time Grammy® nominee Sara Bareilles (Love Song, Brave), who has recently been announced to join the West End cast as Jenna opposite Gavin Creel (The Book of Mormon, Hello Dolly!) as Dr Pomatter for a strictly limited six-week season from 27 January to 7 March 2020. .

Waitress tells the story of Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams her way out of a loveless marriage. When a hot new doctor arrives in town, life gets complicated. With the support of her workmates Becky and Dawn, Jenna overcomes the challenges she faces and finds that laughter, love and friendship can provide the perfect recipe for happiness.

Waitress celebrated its official opening night at the Adelphi Theatre on 7 March 2019 and the Tony-nominated musical is now running in the West End through to 4 July 2020 before embarking on a major nationwide UK tour with  dates and details to be announced in due course.

Evelyn Hoskins (Dawn) most recently starred on stage in Assassins (Nottingham Playhouse/Watermill) and previously in the West End in Spring Awakening. Her other theatre credits include Cruel Intentions (Bill Kenwright), Mayfly (Orange Tree Theatre), Mrs Henderson Presents (Royal Alexandra Theatre, Toronto), Peter and the Starcatcher (Royal and Derngate), the title role of Carrie (Southwark Playhouse), Hero's Welcome (UK Tour, Off-Broadway), This Is My Family (Sheffield Crucible, UK Tour), The Boy Who Fell Into A Book (Stephen Joseph Theatre), Peter Pan (US Tour) and The Secret Garden (Birmingham Rep). For television she has starred in ITV’s A Confession and The Sound of Music Live, BBC series’ Casualty, Holby City and Doctors and E4’s Misfits. She has also performed in concert in The Hired Man (Cadogan Hall), Christmas with the Stars (Royal Albert Hall), Peter Pan (Adelphi) and Cool Rider (Lyric, West End).

Marisha Wallace (Becky) made her West End debut playing Effie White in Dreamgirls (Savoy Theatre) after playing the role at the Tony-winning regional theatre Dallas Theater Center. Since landing in London she has performed in numerous concerts at The Royal Albert Hall, the London Palladium, and she’s a part of Broadway and West End Divas. She previously performed the role of Celie in The Color Purple in Concert at Cadogan Hall and had two sold out nights at Zedel. Marisha’s Broadway credits include the original Broadway productions of Something Rotten and Disney’s Aladdin, and she also appeared in the first US national tour of The Book of Mormon. Other stage credits include Sistas!, Aladdin (Toronto), Oklahoma!, for which she won the Drammy for Best Actress, One Night With Janis Joplin, Rent and Hair. Screen credits include Aladdin (the forthcoming live action film), Disney’s Frozen Fever, The Tony Awards, Good Morning America, The View and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Monique Ashe-Palmer’s (ensemble) theatre credits include Madagascar the Musical (UK and International Tour) as Kowalski/ensemble, onstage swing, dance captain and in which she also understudied Gloria. Fairy Everywhere in Sleeping Beauty (Camberley Theatre) and various performances at Leeds Grand Theatre and the West Yorkshire Playhouse.

Sara Bareilles and Gavin Creel joining Waitress Musical London for limited run

Waitress London looks forward to welcoming International bestselling artist and multi-Grammy-nominee Sara Bareilles (hit singles: 'Brave' and 'Love Story') making her West End debut, reunited with Olivier and Tony Award-winning actor Gavin Creel (Book of Mormon and Mary Poppins) following their sold-out run in the musical on Broadway.

Sara and Gavin will star as Jenna and Dr Pomatter from 27th  January 2020 for a strictly limited six-week run.

Sara Bareilles first achieved mainstream critical praise in 2007 with her widely successful hit Love Song, which reached No. 1 in 22 countries around the world from her debut album Little Voice. Since then, Sara has gone on to receive seven Grammy® nominations, two Tony nominations and three Emmy nominations.  Her book, Sounds Like Me: My Life (So Far) in Song, was released in the fall of 2015 by Simon & Schuster and is a New York Times bestseller. Making her Broadway debut, Sara composed the music and lyrics for Waitress, and made her Broadway acting debut in 2017 by stepping into the shows lead role.  Recently, Sara teamed up with Apple as an executive producer for Little Voice a 10-episode series, which she will create the original music for. On April 5, 2019 Sara released her fifth full-length and first album of original material since 2013, entitled Amidst The Chaos, to rave reviews.  For this latest body of work, she joined forces in the studio with legendary Academy® Award-winning producer T Bone Burnett.  As a result, the album spotlights her voice as a singer and storyteller like never before, while making an enduring statement. She is currently on her Amidst The Chaos North American tour.

Gavin Creel received a Tony Award for his performance as Cornelius Hackl in Hello, Dolly! starring Bette Midler and David Hyde Pierce. He made his Broadway debut originating the role of Jimmy Smith in Thoroughly Modern Millie, for which he received his first Tony Award nomination. He has since created such memorable performances on Broadway as Claude in Hair, which earned him a second Tony Award nomination, Jean-Michel in La Cage Aux Folles, and Stephen Kodaly in the Roundabout Theater Company’s production of She Loves Me, which was filmed live and is available on BroadwayHD. No stranger to London audiences, Gavin most notably originated the role of Elder Price in the West End production of The Book of Mormon, for which he received the Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical. He also starred as Bert in Disney’s Mary Poppins and reprised his performance as Claude in Hair. As well as starring opposite Sara Bareilles in the Broadway production of Waitress, his other stage credits include The Book of Mormon (on Broadway and originating the First National Tour), and the world premieres of Stephen Sondheim’s Bounce (at The Goodman Theatre and The Kennedy Center) and Prometheus Bound at A.R.T. On television, Gavin co-starred alongside Julie Andrews in ABC’s Eloise at the Plaza and Eloise at Christmastime. He has released three original albums GoodTimeNation, Quiet (which landed on Billboard’s Top Heat Seekers) and Get Out, and his single Noise raised money and awareness for marriage equality. Creel was a co-founder of Broadway Impact, the first and only grassroots organization to mobilize the nationwide theater community in support of marriage equality. A native of Findlay, Ohio, he is a proud graduate of University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance.
Lucie Jones and David Hunter will return to the roles of Jenna and Dr Pomatter on 9 March.

Tamlyn Henderson to join the cast of Waitress Musical

Casting news has just been announced for Waitress Musical in the West End.

Tamlyn Henderson will take over the role of Earl (Jenna's abusive Husband) on  9th September, replacing Peter Hannah  

Henderson Henderson has performed across the world including in the UK and international tour of Mamma Mia and Australian productions of Les Misérables and The Sound of Music.

Cindy Belliot (Aladdin) will also join the company on the same date replacing  Nicole Raquel Dennis who leaves the show.

They will start on the same day as the previously announced YouTuber and Strictly 2018 finalist Joe Sugg, who makes his West End debut in the role of Ogie.

Waitress Musical extends booking period to October

With its first preview performance  in the West End tonight,  Waitress Musical has announced that more tickets have been released and the show has extended its booking period to 19th October at the Adelphi. The Tony-nominated musical by Sara Bareilles has its official opening night on 7th March

The production has also just announced that a limited number of day seats will be available to purchase in person from the theatre box office for £25 (from 10:00 am, Mon-Weds performances only, subject to availability and at the box office's discretion).

More Casting announced for Waitress Musical


More casting has just been announced for  Waitress the Musical which starts previews at the Adelphi Theatre in February.  Joining the previously announced Katherine McPhee as Jenna is  Marisha Wallace/Becky (a sassy and tough waitress), Laura Baldwin/ Dawn (anxious yet lovable waitress) , Peter Hannah/Earl (Jenna's abusive Husband) and David Hunter/Dr Jim Pomatter (gynaecologist who Jenna has an affair with) with more casting news to follow.
