Michael Ball up for Willy Wonka role?

More news since my previous blog on 6th October -  Sam Mendes is still meant to be working on a stage adaptation of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and rumour has it that Michael Ball has been approached to play the title role following in the footsteps of Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp. Both played the eccentric Wonka in the two film versions of Roald Dahl’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

The book for this new musical will be written by Scottish playwright David Greig and Hairspray’s Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. It is planned to open in the west end
