Jonathan Ansell, ex- member of pop/opera act G4 who rose to fame from the X Factor, is to make his musical debut in Bill Kenwright’s tour of Whistle Down the Wind.
The original musical production was written and produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber with Lyrics by Jim Steinman, It opened at the Aldwych Theatre in July 1998 and this latest version will start at the Liverpool Empire on 20th January with other dates announced so far including Sheffield, Aberdeen, Bristol, Nottingham, Southampton and Edinburgh. It is scheduled to run for six months so more venues will be released soon.
A concept album was released in 1998 featuring twelve songs from the show, covered by artists including Tom Jones, Boy George, Tina Arena, Donny Osmond, the Everly Brothers, Boyzone, Meat Loaf, and Bonnie Tyler.
The musical version of Whistle Down the Wind is based on a novel by the late Mary Hayley Bell, which was a famous film in the 1960s starring her and Sir John Mill’s then very young daughter Hayley Mills.
