Can the West End Support Two Productions of Les Miserables?

Cameron Mackintosh is taking a risk later this year when he is planning to bring the reworked 25th Anniversary touring production of Les Miserables into London -  competing against the original version playing at the Queen's Theatre.

Mackintosh has said: “For the 25th Anniversary the show is going to do a short season in London, which I'm going to announce very shortly … I'll have both productions running simultaneously, something that's never happened before.”

The touring production is directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell and designed by Matt Kinley. It stars Gareth Gates as Marius, John Owen-Jones as Jean Valjean, and Earl Carpenter as Javert.

The West End production of Les Miserables at  The Queens has established and popular West End performer Simon Bowman heading the cast as Jean Valjean.
