The actor Alan Cumming was set to make his return to Broadway playing the Green Goblin super villain in the musical “Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark”, but he has just announced he has withdrawn from the production which features music by U2.
His withdrawal is explained as a scheduling conflict, but his departure from the show marks the latest setback for Spider-Man. It was originally scheduled to open in February at the Hilton Theatre on Broadway, but the production apparently has huge problems with overspends and technical hitches.
This has led to widespread speculation in theatrical circles as to the show’s future. The official website shows that no tickets are currently being sold.
